A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas
Genre : Fantasy, Romance
Series : A Court of Thorns and Roses, book 3.1

About the Book  :

Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve.

Yet even the festive atmosphere can’t keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated–scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court.

There’s very little to say about this one : first because it’s more of a novella, so quite a short read, and second because nothing much happens.

A Court of Frost and Starlight takes place after the big finale of A Court of Wings and Ruin, meaning everyone is living with the weight of everything that happened. These characters are all dealing with a lot of trauma, but because the story is so short and there’s so many of them, we don’t really go in depth, and it all feels a bit superficial.

We also get to jump between different points of view rather than sticking with Feyre and Rhys, which is a nice change of pace but also made it feel a bit disjointed, like a collection of short stories.

It’s kind of hard for me to rate this book: it wasn’t bad, really, but it just felt SO unnecessary.
