Welcome to Filling the Shelf, or as many of you know it, Mailbox Monday! If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, click away! (but beware, visiting other mailboxes will probably add to your neverending wishlist!)

***

Good Monday everyone, and Happy New Year!

I’m starting the new year being true to myself, by being almost late for my Mailbox Monday post – but there’s still a few hours left to Monday here, so I decided it still counts!

I hope you guys had a nice holidays season, even though this year feels quite different. I was glad I could have my mom here for a few days, but all other family reunions took place over facetime/zoom. I’m honestly so thankful for technology!

I was very lucky to receive some amazing books for Christmas, namely the books from the Thomas Nelson Seasons Edition – Summer. I’ve yet to read Huckleberry Finn, but I love the others and I’m really looking forward to rereading them – it’s been years, and I’ve never read Persuasion in its original version!

I also grabbed two romance novels, Romancing the Duke on audio (yay, sales!) and You Had Me at Hola. I’ve been really into novels full of over the top drama, romance and humor lately, books that make me smile, and these seemed like they would fit the bill.

Stay safe everyone! <3

Persuasion by Jane Austen Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë – The Wonderland Collection by Lewis Carroll – The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare (audio)You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria

What did you add to your shelves this week?

  1. The covers on the top four books are gorgeous!!

ENJOY all of your book and your week.

    • I agree, that was my first thought when I saw this post.

    • Yes, I love them all! Thank you for stopping by 🙂

  2. I would love to reread some classics! Enjoy them all, as well as your new books. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

    • I want to make more time for classics too. Thank you for visiting!

  3. Happy New Year to you!

Let’s hope that 2021 is a little better for us all, although as we are back in full lockdown, here in the UK, it’s not off to a promising start!

Christmas was a very solitary affair with just the two of us this year, however there seemed no point in isolating for the best part of 9 months, just to go and blow it all for one day over Christmas!

I keep promising myself to make time in my schedule to read some classics and re-read several others, however ‘popular reading’ always seems to get in the way and my schedule is always just too full!

I checked out all the books in this lovely exclusive printing of the classics by Thomas Nelson Publisher and I would love to own a set for my shelves, however if they are just to become a display item, rather than books I am going to read and enjoy first, then it is a bit of a waste!

I have of course heard of Tessa Dare, during the course of my blogging travels, however I have never read any of her books, so perhaps it is time that I sampled one or two of them. Historical Romance is not a genre I read on too regular a basis, however from time to time, something a little light hearted is definitely required.

Thanks for sharing and Happy Reading

    • I do hope 2021 is better !

Other than my mother visiting (with precautions, even though it was allowed!), our holidays were very quiet but I could see it wasn’t the case for everyone around us. I agree that it didn’t seem worth it to suddenly gather everyone around after being so careful all year!

We are in full lockdown with curfew now, so hopefully things will calm down.

I agree about the classics! They’re beautiful as decorations, but I also want to read them at some point.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you had a great week!

  4. Glad you linked – never too late. 🙂
Those classic covers are lovely. I was tempted by the Dare book but held off – I have such a large TBR of audios … and ebooks and print!
Have a good week and Happy Reading!

    • Thank you! My TBR is out of control too, but I’ve pretty much accepted that’s how it is and will be haha!

  5. Those classics look gorgeous

    • They really are!
