Join Top Ten Tuesday at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week  a new Top Ten list theme is posted and all bloggers are welcome to participate!

This week Top Ten Tuesday Turns 10 (wow, already!?), and one of the options it to pick a past TTT topic you wish you’d done. Since I didn’t do my “best of” for 2019, I decided there couldn’t be a better time to do it (better late than never… right?)

The Raven Tower by Ann Leckie : A unique fantasy book; if you’re looking for a slow paced fantasy novel told from the point of view of a rock, this is the one for you (see my review for more details, but I adored it!)

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon : An epic standalone fantasy novel with dragons, political intrigue and great worldbuilding.  Loved it!

Based on a True Story by Delphine de Vigan : I actually read this one in French, so I can’t speak to the quality of the translation, but I loved how this one mixed fiction & reality. It was a unique reading experience.

Sabrina & Corina by Kali Fajardo-Anstine : I’m usually not a huge fan of short stories, but I thought these ones were beautifully written.

Holy Sister by Mark Lawrence : The conclusion to one of my favorite fantasy series. Not my favorite book of the series, but I thought it was a solid ending to Nona’s story. I do have a review for the first book, Red Sister.

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli : I absolutely loved that book. I ended up reading the whole series soon after and it’s now one of my favorite YA fantasy series, though the first book is by far the best one. More of my thoughts here!

Miracle Creek by Angie Kim : I read a lot of thrillers & mystery novels every year, but this is the one that stood out for me in 2019. Mixing mystery and literary fiction with complex themes, it reminded me a bit of Celeste Ng. Highly recommend.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde : A classic! I absolutely loved the writing and the themes, it was definitely worth a read. Some of my small thoughts here.

Damsel by Elana K. Arnold : A very weird little book, it’s not for everyone for sure. I loved it, but I’d recommend it with huge caution as it comes with trigger warnings for pretty much everything.

Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse : Post apocalyptic worlds and urban fantasy are some of my favorite themes; adding to that a world inspired by Native American culture made it stand out even more. It was fast paced and such a fun read, it needs some more love!
