Good Monday all,

I hope you’ve all been well, and safe, wherever you are. I don’t have the right words to talk about what’s been going on, but my heart hurts for George Floyd’s closed ones and everyone affected in one way or another.

As for reading, I’ve had a good reading week. I finished reading Ninth House, which, looking at the people I follow on Goodreads, it seems not a lot of people liked – but I really enjoyed it, even though I can see why so many readers thought it was boring.

I also managed to post a review for Lady Smoke, second in the Ash Princess series. Another book I enjoyed, and I’m currently reading the conclusion, Ember Queen.

And no YA fantasy for my shelves this week, or thrillers! Apparently I’ve had a craving for comfort reads and romance, so that’s mostly what I added to my shelves (I’m actually not sure about With the Fire on High‘s genre, but like The Poet X by the same author). I’ve only heard good things about Beach Read so I’m really looking forward to this one especially.

Stay safe everyone! <3

  1. Hi Kay,

I often find myself completely bucking the Goodreads trend with my reading, by enjoying a book which others have found mediocre, which is why I am quite loathe to recommend books to my fellow blogging and reading friends. That’s what makes reading such a personal hobby and I have to be honest and say that it takes an awful lot for me to not enjoy something about almost every book I read!

You really are on a roll with the comfort reads, which isn’t a genre I indulge in too often. I quite like the sound of ‘Beach Read’, whilst my cover of the week has to be ‘With The Fire On High’.

I hope that you find plenty here to lift your spirits 🙂

  2. Definitely a tough week – I echo your thoughts.
Beach Read is on my buy list and I’ve read good reviews for Tweet Cute.
Enjoy, Kay, and have a good week!

  3. I always enjoy comfort reads, and I like the look of Something to Talk About, as well as Beach Read.

Let’s stay safe and be kind to one another. Too bad that many people are lacking in those qualities right now!

Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  4. ENJOY your books, and Happy First Week of June Reading!!

  5. Truly heartbreaking what has happened to George Floyd. I cannot believe someone could be so evil and cold-hearted. Enjoy your new books. They are colorful and seem delightfully lighthearted. Perfect escape reads.

  6. I’m trending more to comfort reads and light reads at the moment too. I’ve seen With the Fire on High around a bit. It has a beautiful unforgettable cover.

  7. I hope you enjoy your new books! I have The Poet X on my TBR list, but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet.

  8. Nice group of different books. I hope you do find them comforting in these stressful times.
    Stay Safe.

  9. Enjoy your books, I’ve heard great things about Beach Read. Stay well during these stressful times.
