Good Monday everyone, and a belated happy Mother’s Day!
I have a bit of a bigger haul this week, but again it’s mostly audiobooks. They’ve been a lifesaver for these past few months, especially on the bad days. Overall though, I’ve been feeling a lot better. I’m on week 6 of my medication now, with 2 weeks left after that, so there’s still some time left before I’m completely back on my feet!
Again it’s a mix of thrillers and speculative fiction. What You Want to See and Storm of Locusts are sequels to books I’ve really enjoyed, and I’m looking forward to spending some more time with their characters. I’ve also been wanting to read Jennifer McMahon for a long time, and this one had a really intriguing premise. Many of her books interest me, so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy it. If you’ve read some of her books, let me know which one I should read next!
What You Want to See by Kristen Lepionka (audio) – The Mother-in-Law by Sally Hepworth (audio) – The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling (audio)
Storm of Locusts by Rebecca Roanhorse – The Invited by Jennifer McMahon (audio) – Sea of Rust by C. Robert Cargill
I’ve heard good things about the Hepworth book. I’m hoping to read or listen to it at some point.
I’ve heard some good things too, I’m looking forward to it!
I just started The Mother-in-Law and I’m loving it so far. Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
Oh, glad to know you’ve been enjoying it (though you’ve probably finished it by now!), I’m really looking forward to it. Thank you for stopping by 🙂
I’m glad you are feeling better.
Interesting books… Sea of Rust sounds rather alarming.
Thank you! I agree about Sea of Rust. I’m curious to see how things will play out.
Hi Kay,
It is good to hear that you are gradually getting back on your feet and I send Best Wishes for your continued recovery.
I’m not sure that I could ever resort to audiobooks; as for one thing I can’t stand wearing headphones or earpieces without getting a massive ear ache, and for another I have always disliked being read to, which goes back as far as my childhood and the time I realized I could read by myself! It really sounds as though they have been a lifeline for you however, which is fantastic.
Anyway, down to the business of the day – You have some great books to add to your shelves this week and I have earmarked ‘The Mother-In-Law’, ‘The Invited’ and ‘What You Want To See’, although I shall need to check out a few reviews first just to make sure the last one can be read as a stand alone as it is part of a series.
Thanks for sharing and Happy Reading 🙂
Yvonne xx
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
It took me the longest time to get used to audiobooks, so I completely understand that they aren’t for everyone. It’s really all about the narrator. When I get tired of the headphones I listen to them on that little speaker we have. I still prefer to read my books on paper (or ebook) though.
I’m not sure whether What You Want to See can be read as a standalone, but for what it’s worth I really liked The Last Place You Look, the first book, if you want to start there!
I loved THe Mother-in-Law. I think it will go really well in audio. I hope you are feeling better and enjoy your new reads.
Oh, I’m so glad to hear this! All these comments are making me even more eager to read it. Thank you for stopping by!
I like the cover on Sea of Rust
I do too! 🙂
