Good Sunday everyone!

As you are reading this, I am out of town for the weekend, visiting my mom and a few friends. The weather is supposed to be super summery and our plans include eating, eating, and eating some more. This sure is shaping up to be an awesome weekend! I have my phone and camera, so if all goes well, I should have pictures to share sometime soon!

Amazingness Read & Reviewed this Week

the storied life of a j firkyYou know this moment when you close a book, completely entranced by its awesomeness, and all you want is to shove it in everyone’s face and shout at them to “READ IT, READ IT NOW!”

Well, that was me after I finished reading The Storied Life of A.J. Firky!

It. Was. Amazing.

It’s a small book but it packs a lot.

Remember when I talked about how The Book Thief (which I reviewed this week, by the way!) was so amazing it broke down my months-long reading slump? And it was an amazing book, and now a favorite, and I thought “This is it; this is the book that marked my 2014 reading year. I didn’t really have one in 2013, but this year, I do!”

And now, I have another one to add to this.

What an amazing year 2014 turns out to be!

I also finished listening to the Veronica Mars audiobook, and it was great, too. I’d be listening to the next one if it was already available, but alas, I must wait for October!

Filling the Shelf – 146

Filling the Shelf simply is Mailbox Monday, but with a title that suits my blog! If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, click away! (but beware, visiting other mailboxes will probably add to your neverending wishlist!)

July is just around the corner – which means my month dedicated to Contemporary YA is just there, too! I am consequently filling my shelves with tons of them, possibly more than I can read in a month – but eh, I can read them later, right?

Fun fact : I like to order my books together by color of theme or genre (eh, don’t ask; it’s just my OCD popping up in various weird places!) but I didn’t notice, until they arrive, how similar they all are. It’s all couples! Seriously, cover people, for the sake of originality : can’t you think of something else to put on covers? Pretty please? (even though I really like all of them?)

  1. My sister said the same thing about A. J. Fikry.

  2. Yay for AJ Fikry! With those YA contemporary books you are all set for summer! I especially liked Open Road Summer. And yes- so many couples!
Hope you’re having a great visit with your mom 🙂

  3. #scandal looks fun! I still haven’t read A.J. Fikry yet – one day!

  4. I also liked ‘AJ Fikry’ and love that cover (different from the one that I read). I think 2014 has been a fantastic year for books. Have a good time with your mom and friends!

  5. Not reading A. J. Filkry, but everyone seems to like it.

    ENJOY your visit.

Looks like you have some good books in your mailbox.

    Have a great week.
