News from the Curio – 1

Good Sunday everyone!

I was going through old blog posts this past week and I stumbled upon old favorites like Musing Mondays and Sunday Salons, and I realised how much I missed them. I miss having a spot where I can share about more general stuff, the books I read and plan to read, in an less formal way. I also know I always enjoy bloggers who do these type of posts, and so I decided it was time to bring a little bit of change around here!

So, for a little while at least, I will be trying this : Filling the Shelf will not disappear, but it will be integrated into News from the Curio, where I plan on talking about what I recently read, books I abandoned, what I added to the shelves, etc. I think it might be fun!

Let’s go!

Read this Week

It’s seems my long reading slump is being followed by an equally intense need to read – well, I never do things half-way, so that’s not too surprising! And so this week I finished 4 books (3 paper, 1 audio).

I received Nina LaCour’s latest book this week (as you will see down below) and realised I now had all three of her books and had yet to read one of them. Whoops. So I picked up Hold Still and devoured it in a day. It was good and you guys can expect a highly positive review! The Distance Between Us was super cute which I needed to contrast Stolens very weird vibe (I liked it, but it was… strange, especially as an audiobook). And I read With All my Soulwhich concluded Rachel Vincent’s series just like it should have. Good week, overall!

Birthday Book!

Today we are celebrating my niece’s second birthday and I bought for her the cutest book! It shines in the dark which is awesome and makes me want to keep it for myself. It’s called “Le Petit Gardien des Étoiles”, but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to have been translated in English. But you can still have a look at its delicious illustrations here!

Filling the Shelf – 141

Filling the Shelf simply is Mailbox Monday, but with a title that suits my blog! If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, click away! (but beware, visiting other mailboxes will probably add to your neverending wishlist!)

I always enjoy going through a bunch of contemporary YA in the summer, so this year I started early on gathering those from my wishlist ; I have already heard tons of great things about Everything Leads to You and We Were Liars, so I am very excited to get reading!

  3. Oh, yes, I miss Sunday Salon too! You’re right about those summary-type posts. They are so great to read and, in your own blog, they are super nice to look back on. Glad you’re starting these weekly posts!

Also, hope you liked the last Soul Screamers book: I thought it was a pretty decent ending. 🙂
