Filling the Shelf – 82

Filling the Shelf is basically Mailbox Monday or the more recent Stacking the Shelves, but with a title that suits my blog! If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, I invite you to visit the two hosts!

Happy Monday everyone!

Phew! The pre-holidays celebration have begun, and what a weekend we’ve had! After a really fun (but really energy-consuming) housewarming on Saturday, we spent Sunday cleaning and then putting up the Christmas tree. I was so captivated by its shiny lights and sparkly decorations that I almost forgot to put up my Filling the Shelf post! But fortunately I didn’t, and I can share with you what I acquired on Cyber Monday for a really sweet deal!

Love Anthony by Lisa Genova  (You guys know how much I loved Still Alice. I still have Left Neglected to read but I’m thrilled all the same to add this one to my shelves.)

The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton  (Historical fiction taking place in England, 1961. I’ve always been a little hesitant about Kate Morton as my favorite bloggers either adore her or seem unable to finish her books in an enjoyable manner. But this one really appealed to me so it seemed like a good place to start.)

The Twelve by Justin Cronin  (The sequel to The Passage is finally here! I read a few pages and realized that, sadly, I have forgotten a lot about the first book. I’ll have to read some extensive summaries before I can plunge into this one!)

The Great Gatsby and other stories by F. Scott-Fitzgerald (I listened to The Great Gatsby this summer and absolutely enjoyed it, and knew I needed a paper version for my shelves. I’m happy to have one with other stories to enjoy, too!)

What did you add to your shelves recently? Have you read one of these books?

  1. I just finished The Twelve. I had forgotten a lot too but it all started coming back to me as I kept reading. Can’t wait for the conclusion to the trilogy!

  2. FAB! That GG is beautiful!

  3. Yay, new books! I’m very curious about The Secret Keeper so I shall keep an eye out for your review!

  4. That Lisa Genova book looks good, and I’m eager to dive into The Secret Keeper too. Glad you are enjoying the holiday season so far! Happy reading 🙂

  5. Lol, I know all about forgetting what happened in the first book of a series. I’m right now reading the second book in the series by Deborah Harkness and at first I had a hard time with remembering what was going on in the first book.

  6. Love Anthony and The Secret Keeper were both favorites of mine. Enjoy!

  7. I’ve heard varying things about Love Anthony, but I hope that you love it! Also Gatsby is my favorite book. I am dying to know what you think about it!! So much there to love…that shelf is probably looking great!

  8. I’m reading The Passage at the moment. It’s quite some ‘work’, but I really love it. Did you know that there are rumors of a movie? The twelve also looks great. I hope you can start in it soon! Happy reading.

  9. Enjoy your new books, Kay! Of the bunch, I’ve only read The Great Gatsby. 🙂

  10. Oh man, you have some good reading ahead of you!

  11. I liked the Forgotten Garden but didn’t love it as much as a lot of other people did. That said, I gave The Secret Keeper to my mom for her birthday last month (she fell into the LOVE category for Forgotten Garden) and I’ll definitely borrow it after she’s read it.

  12. I’ve never read Gatsby and I want to. Enjoy your books!
