This is me, from our new place!
Hey everyone!
This is it : we are finally in our new place! We still have a few more things to get, but we have been sleeping in our bed, in our new bedroom since Saturday night. We were lucky that it didn’t rain too much, we had pizza and a birthday cake for the Man of the House, and it went much quicker than our last move.
I had felt really “in between two places” since last week. The Monday before we moved in, we started painting and cleaning the new place. We also moved the cat in and slept there for the week, on a not-so-comfy-sofa-bed. The cat had such a hard time, hiding and growling and coming out only at night. Once our things were here though, all fear had magically disappeared. He is exploring and sleeping around like nothing happened, finally!
If you already follow me on twitter (@infiniteshelf) or instagram (lifeisapoem), then you’ve probably already seen these, but here are a few shots I quickly took with my phone along the way!
- Since we received our keys a week before moving, we decided to give some of the rooms a new coat of colors!
I couldn’t resist giving all those Amazon boxes a makeover! Mr. Fancy Box is by far my favorite. The cat box was hiding the Man of the House’s birthday gift, which he only opened in our new place. Yes, you read that right: I made him move his own birthday gift. Ha!
It’s important to keep the movers motivated! I cooked a bunch of muffins (triple chocolate, raspberries-chocolate and coffee) and peanut butter cookies. They weren’t as good as I had hoped since I was trying our new oven, but with tea and coffee, it gave everyone energy to get through the day!
First official day in the new place! It’s important to know your priorities: first, the bookshelves. Then, while I was filling them, the Man of the House took care of the computers. The rest could wait!
First book delivery! And a book that has been on my TBR pile WAY too long!
Second book delivery. Things are getting back to normal, finally! 🙂
We only had electric heating in our previous place, so our cat never got to know the comfort of such a radiator. Last night, he jumped on it and discovered it was oh, so warm! I’m sensing the Furry One has a new favorite spot in the house!

Thank you! Building the bookshelves was a good way to clear up some space, quickly. Because I organized my book boxes so well, it was easy to fill the shelves again! Plus, it looks nice. Plus, books!
I’m sure it feels great to be in your new place. That radiator doesn’t look too comfy but I’m sure your cat will love it.
It does! We are glad we moved, and the cat seems to like it enough now. I don’t think the radiator looks comfy either, but the cat always finds the most uncomfortable places to sleep, so I guess this one is not so bad.
I love it. I’ve loved seeing your updates on Twitter and I’m positively in love with what you did to your Amazon boxes. I so want to decorate my next Amazon box.

Decorating the boxes was so much fun! I had more that didn’t fit in the picture. There was a one eye monster that was one of my favorites.

Thank you! That’s what we hope, too. I think most of the things are in place by now, it already mostly feels like home.
