Filling the Shelf – 66

Filling the Shelf is basically Mailbox Monday or the more recent Stacking the Shelves, but with a title that suits my blog 😀 If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, I invite you to visit the current host!

Happy Sunday dear readers!

Because of a tiny technical difficulty (in which “technical difficulty” = silly human who accidentally deleted a complete post by mistake) I won’t be featuring my new “grown up” books as I had been saying last week. I added some adult fiction on my virtual shelf and was looking forward to talk about it, but right now I don’t have the heart (in which “I don’t have the heart” = I’m just too lazy) to rewrite the first part of my post. I’ll include it next week instead (fingers crossed!)

Shadows on the Moon by Zoe Marriott : A young girl trained in shadow-weaving, which allows her to transform herself in any form. Sounds intriguing, and I loved Marriott’s The Swan Kingdom.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo : A fantasy world, a magical elite. Despite the great cover, I wonder how excited I would be about this book if not for all the raving reviews I have read of it! I am actually a little scared of reading this one.

Lies Beneath by Anne Greenwood Brown : This sounds like a darker take on the mermaid mythology.

For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund : A genetic experiment gone wrong, decimated humanity. So here’s the thing; this sounds like a book up my alley, but I still haven’t read the second book of Peterfreund’s unicorn series. And I have this thing about reading books in order. Umpf.

What did you add to your shelves recently? Have you read one of these two books?

  2. What a gorgeous selection 🙂

  3. Oh, nice! Shadow & Bone sounds amazing, I can’t wait to read it. Also need to get my hands on For Darkness Shows the Stars! Enjoy!

  4. I hope you love them and I can’t wait to see the adult books you picked up.

  5. I am so jealous of For Darkness Shows the Stars, Shadow and Bone, and Lies Beneath! They look like amazing books and I really want to pick them up sometime soon! 🙂

Check out my Stacking the Shelves!

  6. Great selection! I haven’t heard of the first book but the other three are on my tbr list.

Here’s my StS if you’d like to check it out. 🙂

  7. Great set! I’m almost done with Lies Beneath right now. And I really want Shadow and Bone.

  8. I loved Shadow and Bone. It was such a unique story! I hope you enjoy all of your books!

  9. Lies Beneath was actually pretty good. It was my first mermaid story so I have nothing to base it off of, but definitely dark.

  10. Awesome haul this week! Looks like you got some great books!

    Happy Reading,

  11. All your new books are so pretty! Smoke & Bone has been on my shelf to read for a while – I really need to get to it, I keep hearing such fantastic things about it.

I liked Peterfreund’s Killer Unicorn books more than For Darkness… but I seem to be in the minority with that opinion.

  12. Have you read all my other books yet? I’m just saying, if you think you need to read a wholly unrelated series first, why start with killer unicorns? Start all the way back at the beginning…. 😉
