Filling the Shelf – 64

Filling the Shelf is basically Mailbox Monday or the more recent Stacking the Shelves, but with a title that suits my blog 😀 If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, I invite you to visit the current host!

Happy Monday all!

Look at that; it’s Monday morning and my post is up! For the first time in weeks, I’m actually not late for Mailbox Monday! Go me!

And I have plenty of new books to share with you; you would think it grows old, receiving new books every week, but it actually doesn’t. A box or an envelope with a book in it always puts me in the best of mood.

Here we go with, as always, titles linked to Goodreads if you want to know more about the books!

Gilt by Katherine Longshore : The court of Henry VIII, with a young woman brought to court to live an elegant life. I thought I was tired of Henry VIII, but the YA angle might make it refreshing. I’m hoping for something more on the entertaining side than heavy, serious historical fiction.

Changeling by Philippa Gregory : I haven’t read Gregory in a while but I remember that even though I found her characters flawed, I thought her stories were gripping. I’m curious to see what she can bring to YA fiction.

Darkness Before Dawn by J.A. London : Two words : Dystopia and Vampires. Two of my favorite themes, meeting once more. Hopefully it will be good?

2312 by Kim Stanley Robinson : Science-fiction under an awesome cover. This is not YA, it’s over 500 pages, and I can’t wait to read it. Click on the title to hear more about it; I think it sounds awesome!

Wonder by Robert J. Sawyer : This is book 3 in the WWW series, that I got at a really great price in hardcover. I love finding bargains on books I want!

Taken by Storm by Jennifer Lynn Barnes : Book 3 in the Raised by Wolves series! I really enjoyed the first two, so of course I wouldn’t miss this one!

What did you add to your shelves recently? Have you read one of these two books?

  1. “Darkness before dawn” sounds interesting to me. I might buy it, thanks for this post 🙂

  2. Oooooooooooooo what is 2312 about?

    • It’s science-fiction with a colony on Mercury, and the summary is very vague on what happens : “…in this year, 2312, a sequence of events will force humanity to confront its past, its present, and its future. The first event takes place on Mercury […] It is an unexpected death, but one that might have been foreseen.” I’m not sure what it means, but I heard good things and liked the first few pages. I’m also excited that it’s a book I can share with the Man of the House! 🙂

  3. Color me jealous on the Gregory book!! I watched a webcast thing with her regarding Changeling & I am totally intrigued, even tohugh I’ve only read like two YA books 😉

    • I can’t find the follow button…how do I follow? Thanks!

      • At the top right corner, after the Infinite Shelf banner, there is a button for the rss feed, and you can follow via email at the bottom of the blog. I only moved to my domain a few weeks ago so I’m still settling down and looking for other ways people could follow me in an easy manner. Let me know if you have suggestions! 🙂
