Filling the Shelf – 62

Filling the Shelf is basically Mailbox Monday (this month hosted by Martha’s Bookshelf), but with a title that suits my blog 😀 If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, I invite you to visit the current host!

Happy Monday Tuesday everyone!

It was a 3-day weekend for us this week, and so I got a little confused; I woke up this morning thinking we were Sunday, and forgot to prepare my blog post. Oops! It’s been an eventful weekend, after an eventful week, before another eventful week, so this might happen again in the coming days!

So, a little late, here is what landed on the Shelf this week, two memoirs :

Something Fierce : Memoirs of a Revolutionary Daughter by Carmen Aguirre : Memoirs of a young Chilean woman part of the underground revolutionary movement in the years of Pinochet’s dictatorship. I am very intrigued by this one; I usually study French revolutions, so reading about revolutions somewhere else helps giving perspective. But also, I am really looking forward to reading this.

Let’s Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir) by Jenny Lawson : I have been a fan and follower of Jenny Lawson’s blog (The Bloggess) forever, it seems, and there was no way I wouldn’t be reading this. She has a wicked sense of humor, and reading the first few pages of the book, I already know I’m in for a treat!

What did you add to your shelves recently? Have you read one of these two books?

  1. Something Fierce really looks good to me. I hope you love both books!

  2. Can’t wait for your thoughts on Let’s Pretend! I’ve heard some good stuff so far. And seriously who doesn’t love that cover? Makes me think of Reepicheep.

  3. I am getting ready to start Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, and I am so excited after reading so many weird and wild reviews. I know it’s going to be strange, and I am going to be savoring it. Nice new additions to the shelves today, Kay!

  4. Lol, I absolutely love the cover of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened! It definitely seems like a (mostly true) memoir I could enjoy too. 😉 You’ve intrigued me! Hope you enjoy. 🙂

  5. I really want to read Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. I really like Jenny’s blog as well. I’m not as up on it as I should be, but I have been checking it out a lot more lately while she is touring. That’s awesome the book is good so far. 🙂
