Filling the Shelf – 52

Filling the Shelf is basically Mailbox Monday (this month hosted by Diary of an Eccentric) or In my Mailbox (created by The Story Siren ), but with a title that suits my blog 😀 If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, I invite you to visit those two awesome features!

Happy Monday readers!

I have a nice full mailbox this week, in big part thanks to the Man of the House. He enables my addiction; it’s all his fault! Really!

Crossed by Ally Condie : Funny story : I didn’t plan on reading this one. I read Matched last year, enjoyed it enough and wrote a review, thinking I would probably read the next book. Then, I kind of forgot what I had liked of the book and could only remember the negative aspects of it, and decided I wouldn’t read Crossed. Then a few weeks ago I read some positive reviews of Matched that brought back to my memory what I had liked. Heh! So, this is how Crossed landed in my house!

A Million Suns by Beth Ravis : I read Across the Universe a week or two ago and I was pleasantly surprised, so of course I had to get this one!

The Way We Fall by Megan Crewe : Already read this one, and quite enjoyed it. Review coming soon.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi : I read all kinds of reviews on this one; from “best book of 2011!!!!” to “worst book ever!!!”, and all from readers I trust. So, I’m almost more curious to find out where I stand than to discover the story. Is that a bad or good sign?

What did you add to your shelves recently? Have you read one of these two books?

  1. You received some nice books last week. All an unfamiliar to me. Enjoy

  2. I want to read a few of these titles on my TBR list, like A Million Suns – the 1st book in the series was so good, I want to pick that one up soon too.

  3. All new to me. Have a good week.

  4. I like the cover of Crossed.

  5. I’m drawn to The Way We Fall. Enjoy your mailbox reads….

    Here’s MY MONDAY MEMES POST

  6. I admit, Crossed didn’t do much for me. I loved Matched, but Crossed was just boring. Transitional. :/

As for Shatter Me, I liked it, though I thought the romance was a little overmelodramatic in places. I can see why some people would hate it though. I barely remember it now.

  7. Across The Universe surprised me in a good way, too, and I definitely want to read A Million Suns! I listened to the first book on audio, so I’m holding out for an audio copy to arrive at the library.

  8. Enjoy all your new books! I wasn’t a big fan of Shatter Me.

  9. Hahah. You’re lucky you found someone that is so supportive of your addiction! Where do I find myself one of those? Looks like you got some great books this week! Hopeyou enjoy them all. 🙂

  10. You gotta love a guy who enables a book addiction! The covers of the top two books have a similar feel.

  11. I have Crossed and A Million Suns, but still need to read the first in the series for both of them. The other two are new to me, but look rather interesting. Enjoy all your new reads and be sure to let us know what you think of them when you are done!

  12. oh man, SO MANY great books for you this week!

i am firmly in the SHATTER ME camp forevah and evah. i can’t wait to hear what you think!

  13. Me <- jealous

I need Crossed and A Million Suns.

    Enjoy 😀

  14. Enjoyed your Mailbox Monday! I really want to read “The Way We Fall”

  15. I have yet to get to Crossed, although I do think a re-read of Matched is in order. Certain key scenes are very vague, if not completely forgotten.

I was one of those who were not a fan of Shatter Me. There were quite a few things about it that rubbed me the wrong way. I hope you enjoy it more than I did!

  16. Great looking post and books! The layout of your blog is wonderful. I hope you enjoy your new books, Kay.

  17. I think we’d all like a Man of the House to enable our book addictions. 😉 Happy reading!

  18. I have yet to read Across the Universe, although I have it sitting on my shelf. Shatter Me really does seem to be one that people are divided on – and that they have very strong opinions on! Looking forward to seeing which side you fall on 🙂

  19. I wish my guy would encourage my book buying. He thinks I am crazy half the time!
