Filling the Shelf is basically Mailbox Monday (this month hosted by Metroreader) or In my Mailbox (created by The Story Siren ), but with a title that suits my blog 😀 If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, I invite you to visit those two awesome features!

Happy Monday all!

I am particularly excited as I write this post, as I finished all my reading for this week’s classes this weekend – meaning I might have some “fun” reading time this week. The reading I have to do for university is mostly very interesting, but it does hurt my brain so it’s refreshing to just cuddle with a good book at the end of the day!

Here’s what I added to my shelves last week :

Getting Over Garrett Delaney by Abby McDonald : I read two of Abby McDonald’s previous novels and enjoyed them enough.

Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler : Again, I have read the author’s previous two novels and liked them a lot. Ockler’s writing really speaks to me and this one has cupcakes in it; what more could I ask?

I also received The Statistical Improbability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith and have already read it. I really enjoyed it and will be posting a review soon, probably this week!

What did you add to your shelves recently? Have you read one of these two books?

  1. You can rarely go wrong reading authors you’ve enjoyed in the past. Hope these are great reads.

  2. I like the sound of The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. Is it a mathematician’s version of romance? I am waaaaaay past love at first sight stage , but I am intrigued by the idea of instant attraction. I truly believe it has to do with meeting a soul you have intersected before, in another life. Similarly, the instant dislike reflects a conflict you had with a soul in a previous lifetime and you’ve yet to learn the lesson of love and tolerance with them. Thank you for such provocative titles. I am also yet to read Sarah Ockler.
My tastes run to Alice Munto, Carol Oates, Margaret Attwood, Barbara Kingsolver, Jeanette Winterson, and for males, Ian Hollinghurst, Ian Mckeown, Tim Winton, Wallace Stegner, Wells Tower, Garrison Keillor.

  3. I hope the books are as good as their covers!

  4. I do love revisiting favorite authors. I’ve been noticing Ockler’s books…just need to try them!

    Enjoy your “fun reading.”

Here’s MY MONDAY MEMES POST – and if you’re interested, here’s
    MY WEBSITE

  5. I just started reading Dickens’ classic “A Tale of Two Cities.” It’s been a while since I’ve read a book of such substance. But so far, so good.

  6. I’ve enjoyed Abby McDonald’s books in the past, too, and definitely like the look of her new one!

  7. I hope you find time to curl up and read these two books. They do look like they would be great reads.

  8. I have not heard much about these books, but the cover for Bittersweet is excellent! I love coming over here and seeing what you are filling the shelves with because you are always getting the most interesting stuff! I hope that you enjoy them!

  9. Both of your new books look cute! Enjoy!

  10. Bittersweet and Statistical are both suppose to be awesome. Enjoy!

  11. Garrett Delaney has a cover that looks like a hundred others, but Bittersweet makes me hungry! Hope you enjoy(ed) all your books!

    • I agree! It’s cute but very forgettable. I prefer covers like Bittersweet 🙂

  12. Both new to me. Enjoy.
