Read-a-Thon : Finish Line!

So, the read-a-thon wasn’t such a reading experience for me after all!

I’m not sure what happened, but somewhere during the day I just didn’t feel like reading anymore, and since this is supposed to be about fun rather than duty, it just didn’t feel right to push myself. So I took it rather slow, and didn’t even reach my objective. But, I did enjoy what I read!

Here’s how it went for me, by filling the end of event meme :

Which hour was most daunting for you?

Around 11 in the evening, I had really little motivation for reading and I was really sleepy.

Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
Though I haven’t finished it, I started Lola and the Boy Next Door and found it perfect for the even. Anna and the French Kiss, read earlier this year, would also make for a fun and light read-a-thon year.

Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
Nope! 🙂

What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
I feel I can hardly give a fair answer considering my very small participation. But I loved the organisation on the website, which was different from my experience a couple years ago!

How many books did you read?
I completed only one, but I also read a good chunk of Lola and the Boy Next Door, as well as started Beautiful Days and Prophecy of the Sisters.

What were the names of the books you read?

See previous question 🙂

Which book did you enjoy most?
Not a hard choice since I only finished one : All these things I’ve done.

Which did you enjoy least?
None hehe.

How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
I think very likely but I really have to rethink how I want to live this experience. Read-a-thons either really work or really don’t for me, and since my main goal is to have fun, I don’t want to force myself into it when I don’t feel it. So, I’m thinking that if next time I wake up not feeling like reading, I might do some cheering instead! I still had fun though 🙂

  1. Kay, you did great! During the read-a-thon, I didn’t feel like reading anymore and I just stopped. I think it had to do with reading a chunkster like Habibi. Cheerleading is always a great way to go. I often have tons of fun cheering readers on and making new blogging buddies.

  2. Yeah, I quit around the 7:00 pm mark (12 hours) because I wasn’t feeling in the mood anymore either.

  3. It was my first time, and I had a lot of fun. The husband and kiddos provided support with food and silence, but like you, I didn’t get all the books read that I wanted to. Next time around I think I will have to be a little less ambitious, either that, or pick shorter reads! And don’t beat yourself up over your participation. In the end, it’s all about fun, whatever way you have it!

  4. You did the right thing – having fun is the main goal.

  5. You did great! 😉 Congratulations!! Hope you had lots of fun! 🙂

  6. You did do well, I am all about the fun as well. I used it as a nice R and R for me, and just read and listened to music in the background. Think this was my favourite one I’ve done.
