Filling the Shelf – 34

Filling the Shelf is basically Mailbox Monday (this month hosted by Life in the Thumb) or In my Mailbox (created by The Story Siren ), but with a title that suits my blog 😀 If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, I invite you to visit those two awesome features!

This morning I realized how ironic it was to call this feature “Filling the Shelf”.

As if there were still shelves left to fill.

As if the books weren’t piling on my desk, waiting to be read.

As if I was actually reading fast enough that I needed to fill the void left by books reads.

Though I will say, I have made some progress in August (so far!) I have read lots of books but gotten only a “few” (I was made aware, recently, that a “few” does not have the same meaning for everyone) new ones. Here are this week’s new additions :

The Wednesday Sisters by Meg Waite Clayton : A story about a group of women in 1967, bound by their love for the words. This is one I have been wishing to put my hands on for a while, so when I found a hardcover copy on sale for less than 5$, I was quick to put it in my bag! (after paying for it, of course!)

Blood Bound by Rachel Vincent : This was a birthday gift from me to me, since Blood Bound came out on August 23rd, my very own birthday! 🙂 I’ve been a fan of Rachel Vincent ever since her first novel, Stray, came out. This new series, about a paranormal tracker who follows dangerous enemies by the scent of their blood, sounds really intriguing!

A Fatal Grace  and  The Cruelest Month by Louise Penny : I recently read Still Life, the first in this series on a chief inspector taking place in the Quebec province, and I was completely charmed by it. I LOVE reading a book taking place in a landscape I’m familiar with, so I had to get the two following books right then!

What did you add to your shelves recently? Have you read one of these two books?
