On My Wishlist – 5

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where we list all the books we desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. Click on the link to Book Chick City, sign the Mr. Linky and join the fun!

A wishlist never ends, does it? Even when you finally get the books you wished for, there are more to add and it never ends.

Here are a couple I am currently wishing for :

Beauty Queens by Libba Bray

Summary from Goodreads :

Teen beauty queens. A “Lost”-like island. Mysteries and dangers. No access to email. And the spirit of fierce, feral competition that lives underground in girls, a savage brutality that can only be revealed by a journey into the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Oh, the horror, the horror! Only funnier. With evening gowns. And a body count.

Beauty Queens is coming out May 24th, 2011. It sounds fun.

Shadows on the Moon by Zoë Marriott

Summary from Goodreads :

Suzume is a shadow-weaver. She can create mantles of darkness and light, walk unseen in the middle of the day, change her face. She can be anyone she wants to be. Except herself.

Suzume died officially the day the Prince’s men accused her father of treason. Now even she is no longer sure of her true identity.
Is she the girl of noble birth living under the tyranny of her mother’s new husband, Lord Terayama? A lowly drudge scraping a living in the ashes of Terayama’s kitchens? Or Yue, the most beautiful courtesan in the Moonlit Lands?

Everyone knows Yue is destined to capture the heart of a prince. Only she knows that she is determined to use his power to destroy Terayama.

Shadows on the Moon is coming out in July 2011, and if this book doesn’t sound awesome, I don’t know what does!

  4. SOTM looks good!

  5. I want to read both of these too!

  6. I have Shadows On The Moon and I can’t wait to read it.

  7. I’m on vacation. That means: freelance writing, doing some web design work for clients and looking for a job. But when I’m not doing any of that stuff I’m reading or having fun. Come see what I’m wishing for.

  8. Cool picks! I hope you enjoy them when you get them.

  10. I’m not sure Beauty Queens is the kind of book I’d read, but the description is hilarious!

    • I agree! I really hope that description is a reflection of the book. I’ll be disappointed if it’s not.
