Artsy Shelf – 25 – Girl in a Blue (historical) Dress

You might remember how, a while ago, I featured red dresses covers on the Artsy Shelf. I revealed then that I love red dresses, but the truth is I can easily fall for other beautiful dresses, no matter the color.

I really wanted to feature a collection of beautiful covers with blue dresses, but surprisingly I could hardly find blue dresses that weren’t on historical fiction novels or in an historical style. I decided to go with it, which is why today, apart from The One that I Want, I present you dresses from the past.

First I have to say that The One that I Want is a beautiful cover, and even though it is not a historical dress, I love that we don’t have a clear view of it. It could be a 2010 or a 1990 dress, we don’t know. The photograph itself is really beautiful and unique. If I didn’t already want to read Allison Winscotch’s book, the cover alone would probably convince me to give it a try.

Queen Hereafter and The Mistaken Wife look really nice to me, too. The first one has stunning colors and there’s a simplicity in the cover that I really appreciate. The second one is different, giving us the model from head to toes without revealing too much of her appearance, giving place to our imagination. The perspective is interesting too, making it an intriguing cover.

For the King gets my attention for its colors, too. The fact that the image is missing a part of it isn’t my favorite aspect though, but I’m wondering if it doesn’t continue on the other side of the real book?

Do you fall for any of these covers? Which one is your favorite?
