While in Paris – View from the Café du Louvre

Unless art, history and architecture isn’t your thing, visiting the Louvre will probably take you the major part of the day. To say the place is huge is quite the understatement : we were there from 10 in the morning to 5h30 in the afternoon, and we had to skip through some rooms in order to see the ones that interested us the most (see you next time, decorative arts!) It goes without saying that, at some point, we had to take a break and eat.

It’s a bit overpriced, and the waiting can be long on lunch time, but the Louvre’s Café was a joy. We went around two in the afternoon and, although the museum’s rooms were crowded, the Café was quiet and the perfect spot to rest. Eating outside was fantastic, with a wonderful view on the Caroussel, the Pyramid and the fountains.

Also, did I mention the dessert was fabulous? I swear, it was as delicious as it looks.

No, wait : I’m lying. It was even better then it looked. A chocolate mousse pyramid on a chocolate crunchy cookie? YUM!

To see more, take a look at last week’s post on the interior decoration.

  1. My first time at the Louvre was so exhausting that I’ve never gone back, despite being in Paris quite often.

  5. Oh la la I haven’t been at the Louvre’s Café, it looks fabulous!
I went twice, my first time I was 17, it was a school trip, I barely saw the Gioconda and then spent the whole time outside…the second time I was with my boyfriend who made me stay more than 3 hours in the egyptian area (the smelly cold one) after that I was exhausted.
I should go back and pay more attention!
