August! It’s already August!

Where has all the time gone? I definitely didn’t read and studied as much as I was planning to in July, which means that August will be a charged month. I’m tired just thinking of it, but it’s a good way of being tired.

July was a smaller month than June in terms of books read, and I blame The Passage for this. It did take me over a week to get through it! But I had an okay months, in numbers and in quality. I also read a lot of articles in preparation for school, and began many non-fiction books I have yet to finish (and in some cases, don’t know if I will).

Books read in July :

  1. Demon Princess : Reign Check by Michelle Rowen
  2. The Passage by Justin Cronin
  3. Juliet, Naked by Nick Hornby
  4. Seeing Ghosts : 911 and the Visual Imagination by Karen Engle
  5. The Luxe by Anna Godbersen
  6. Rumors by Anna Godbersen
  7. Envy by Anna Godbersen
  8. Splendor by Anna Godbersen
  9. L’œuvre d’art à l’époque de sa reproductibilité mécanique by Walter Benjamin
  10. Another Faust by Daniel & Dina Nayeri
  11. Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

Books reviewed in July :

  1. Nobody’s Princess by Esther Friesner
  2. That Summer by Sarah Dessen
  3. The Passage by Justin Cronin
  4. The Hand that First Held Mine by Maggie O’Farrell
  5. Juliet, Naked by Nick Hornby
  6. Whip it by Shauna Cross
  7. Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

What about you : how was your month? What’s the best book you’ve read in July? And what are you planning on reading in August?

This month, other than school-related stuff, I’m planning on reading another of my chunksters, but I haven’t decided yet whether it will be New York or Under the Dome. I have started re-reading Poison Study and I am hoping read the two other books in the series after that.

  1. Looks like you did pretty well to me! The Passage was definitely a chunkster and I think it would have taken me much longer if I wasn’t on vacation when I read it.

I have a pile of books awaiting for me for the first half or so of August; I don’t know what will be next after those!

  2. Oh yeah, THE PASSAGE takes forever to read. July was sort of a scattered month for me, but August is all about the dystopian. So excited!!

  3. You had a great month in books – it’s all about enjoying what you read anyway.

  4. I need to read The Passage!

  6. Gosh you know you’re not doing well when you don’t even remember which books you read in July…um, I think that’s when I read The Kid Table by Andrea Seigel, which I loved, and i know I read Plain Kate by Erin Bow, which I also loved. But i know there were some other good ones in there. It’s been sort of a blur of books and I’m weeks behind on reviewing!

  7. Looks like some great books were read this month!!!

  8. i think any month where you read more than ten books is a great month! not to mention you also read the passage, which really should count as two.

  9. Meghan : Yes, The Passage was a huge one to get through! Parts of it were really good and other were a bit slow for me, so it took me some time to get through it.

Lenore : I’m excited about dystopian month too! I already know many books will be added to my wishlist because of it!

    Kathy : I completely agree!

Gautami tripathy : It’s a good one! It could have been shorter, but I still had a good time.

Freda : Whip it is a fun movie! Happy August to you too!

Amanda : Being behind on reviews is always a pain! I’m sure you’ll catch up quick though 🙂

Staci : Yes, there was some good reading in there! Now I just need to write the reviews… eek!

    Toothy : I agree! 10 is a great average.

  10. I haven’t added up for this month yet, but it feels like I’ve read less.

11 books isn’t bad at all!

I’m worried about next month since the hubs and I have decided to start hitting the gym and going on a date once a week… that will cut into reading time 🙂
