Artsy Shelf – 16 – Under my (red) Umbrella! Ella!

Posted by on April 6, 2010 2:42 am in Features | 13 comments

Following last week’s feature, here are more umbrellas! This time, I chose to focus on the many red ones :

I find it interesting that Breaking the Bank and Raven Stole the Moon feature the same girl, but in two completely different settings! Which do you think is the real one? Raven Stole the Moon looks more natural to me, so I think it might be the one.

The Concubine’s Daughter and Kitchen Chinese have similar ones, too, but I don’t think they’re exactly the same. I love the colors in the first one, but I like how things come together on Kitchen Chinese.

Which one is your favorite?

  1. The first two books does have the same girl and the same umbrellas! How odd!

  2. Great finds. The Red Umbrella (last one) is AMAZING. I will be reviewing it soon.

  3. I think Raven is in the real setting too. I tried to figure out if the umbrella was the same in the second two, but couldn’t tell.

  4. Raven Stole the Moon is a fantastic book!

  5. looks like they just flipped the image for the first two covers! i prefer the ‘cutting for stone’ cover myself…

    nice job on the finds.

  6. Pretty covers! I think my favorite is The Red Umbrella.

  7. I have to give “favorite book cover” here to Kitchen Chinese! Something about just feels very… tranquil? I’m not sure what it is, but it definitely works for me. I do like the covers for Raven Stole The Moon (good story) and The Red Umbrella (how fitting!), too!

  8. i love the cover on Kitchen Chinese and Cutting for Stone. since i’ve seen the cover for Raven Stole the Moon so many times, the Breaking the Bank cover just looks weird…

    great finds!

  9. It’s so amazing what they can do to pictures…I think the top two both look real….hard to choose!

  10. My favorite one is the red umbrella.

  11. Oh, how I love your Artsy Shelf features! I find it amazing what they can do with exactly the same image – without Breaking the Bank and Raven Stole the Moon right next to each other, I probably wouldn’t have noticed!

  12. It’s so odd how the girl in the first two books are exactly the same, only flipped! You’d think they would not use stock photos for something like book covers!

  13. I am giving away a red umbrella on my blog, along with the book, Raven Stole the Moon! 🙂
