My Read-a-thon – Finish Line!

BDreadathonThis is it!

I went through my read-a-thon and achieved mostly what I was hoping for. Well, a little less maybe, but I’m not complaining :

I read just a little 11 hours when I was planning for 12.

I finished 3 books and began a fourth, for a total of 658 pages. This makes a total of about 59 pages-hour, which sounds a little slow for me, but close enough to reality.

What I read :

  • Finished reading Santa Olivia by Jacqueline Carey (95 pages)
  • Read Bogus to Bubbly by Scott Westerfeld (196 pages)
  • Read Jinx by Meg Cabot (262 pages)
  • Start Glass Houses by Rachel Caine (105 pages)

First, I want to say a BIG Thank you! To all of you who stopped by to cheer me up or did via Twitter or email. I really appreciated it! It’s nice to have people patting you on the back, especially since I felt I was really slow at reading today.

I was reading quickly enough last night, and I slept about 5 hours. When I got up this morning the reading was really slower, and I was constantly distracted. It took me a little while to figure out that I was stressed because I wasn’t studying, or working on a paper, or organizing my notes… It was hard to let go, but I did. I really enjoyed all that I read, so it helped. In the end, it felt less like a read-a-thon and more like a big, lazy day! I needed that!

Right now I’ll be watching a few TV shows with the Man, and I’ll try to finish Glass Houses before going to bed. Then tomorrow after class I’ll try to do a little blogging and then I’ll be back to studying.

  1. You did great! When I was doing my read-a-thon yesterday I was feeling the same way.

  2. Yay! At 11 hours, you did great! I was only able to do 6+ hours the last time.

  3. Excellent joy, Kay! It sounds like you had fun. I’m glad we could cheer you on a bit.

  4. Thanks all! 😀 I’m glad you stopped by!

Claire : I still think 6 hours of reading is pretty good! I’m thinking next time I’ll take a shorter time so that I get less distracted.

  5. Have you always been a fast reader? Or is it something that has come with the years of reading books? 🙂

  6. Oh for Pete’s sake. That is an accomplishment already. Slow or not. Congratulations Kay! I haven’t even started cheering you on tweeter, you’re already done. LOL.

  7. I’m sorry I didn’t get to cheer you on! You did great though. I get distracted easily from reading too, especially when I know I have other things to get done. I used to set myself requirements in college/grad school (like it was years ago, LOL) to get done before I read to make sure I didn’t feel like I had something to get done. It is harder after a time of massive assignments though.

  8. Great job! 3 books in 11 hours is awesome! I read for about 17 or 18 hours as part of the 24-hour RAT and I didn’t finish a single book. lol
