Sunday Salon : July Wrap up, Apologies and More

The Sunday Salon.comI am currently writing this from Vermont. We’ve left behind the crowded streets of Montreal for the weekend, to visit my in-laws in their quiet but beautiful Vermont house.

First, I wanted to offer my apologies for my lack of comments in the last week. Part of it is due to our long weekend in Vermont; part of it is due to that problem with Blogger. I solved the latest by finally updating my Blogger profile with a link to my blog on WordPress, although I don’t like the fact that it takes at least one more click to get to my real blog – we all know the internet people are lazy! 😛 I’m the living proof of that!

Before I get on to July’s Wrap Up, here’s what happened in the last week on The Infinite Shelf :

Books read this week :

  • Le journal d’Aurélie Laflamme, tome 3 (French Canadian YA), by India Desjardins
  • Le journal d’Aurélie Laflamme, tome 4 (French Canadian YA), by India Desjardins
  • The Vampire Diaries, Omnibus edition 1 – The Awakening and The Struggle, by L.J. Smith
  • The Widow’s Season, by Laura Brodie
  • Gothic Art Now, by  Jasmine Becket-Griffith

It was an excellent reading week; the first 3 book were good and the last 2 were great! I’ll post a review for The Widow’s Season as soon as I’m back home and I have it in my hands, but it was such an amazing read – one of my favorite this year!

Reviewed this Week :

July’s Wrap up

July has been a surprisingly good month of reading! After the June madness, I really thought I wouldn’t read much, but in the end I read a total of 19 books! It still feels like my TBR pile is moving up rather than moving down, but I keep faith that I can beat it!

On the blog front, July has been a great month too! I’ve posted 34 times, 12 of them being reviews. So I’m not exactly at a 50% rate of reviews, but it’s not too bad, either. I’ve become a lot more regular with reviews in the last weeks and I’m hoping it’s a trend I can keep up with.

Other bookish things that happened around here beside reviews and the usual features :

  • I introduced my first novel, Sober (and I encourage you to do the same! It’s especially fun if you have 3 loads of laundry waiting for you, and you need to find a way to lose more time!)
  • I wrote a guest post for the Sex in Teen Lit month (if you haven’t heard of the SITL month, go take a look, there are awesome reviews and interviews to read there!)
  • I made a comic on procrastination, than another on battling with Google Reader.
  • Has a new Giveaway, Daughters of the Grail by Elizabeth Chadwick!

Today I’ll be trying to finish The Vampire Diaries 2, The Fury and Dark Reunion, although I’m really itching to go through Twenties Girl. Maybe I’ll read a little bit of both!

How has your month of July been? Is the summer a time where you read more, or less?

  2. Since our son’s home for the summer, I’ve been reading less. I’ve been pretty distracted the last few weeks, so my reading’s taken a hit.

  3. Great month for you 😀

I must have missed the post about SITL, I’m gonna go over and read it now.

  4. Wow, you had a great July! I managed to read 16 books, myself.

  7. I think that sounds like a good month! I love your comics, I definitely think you should draw and share more of them. =)

  8. A visit to Vermont sounds nice. I hope you are having a nice visit with your in-laws! I am glad you had such a good reading month in July. I was happy with my reading too even if I didn’t get too many books read. I hope you have a great week, Kay!

  9. Is it the Vampire Diaries that they’re making into a series this fall on US TV? I think so…

And I would love to visit Montreal, thanks to Kathy Reiches and her Tempe Brennan novels. She makes it sound like such a wonderful city!

Thanks for stopping by my place.
