Waiting on Wednesday
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
So I figured I would finally join the fun! Maybe not every week, but from time to time at least. I love seeing what everyone is waiting for (I discovered many great things to wait for through that, too).
Here’s what I’m (desperately) waiting for :
Never Slow Dance with a Zombie, by E.V. Lowe (coming August 18th, 2009)
Principal Taft’s 3 Simple Rules for Surviving a Zombie Uprising: Rule #1: While in the halls, walk slowly and wear a vacant expression on your face. Zombies won’t attack other zombies. Rule #2: Never travel alone. Move in packs. Follow the crowd. Zombies detest blatant displays of individuality. Rule #3: If a zombie should attack, do not run. Instead, throw raw steak at to him. Zombies love raw meat. This display of kindness will go a long way.
On the night of her middle school graduation, Margot Jean Johnson wrote a high school manifesto detailing her goals for what she was sure would be a most excellent high school career. She and her best friend, Sybil, would be popular and, most important, have boyfriends. Three years later, they haven’t accomplished a thing! Then Margot and Sybil arrive at school one day to find that most of the student body has been turned into flesh-eating zombies. When kooky Principal Taft asks the girls to coexist with the zombies until the end of the semester, they realize that this is the perfect opportunity to live out their high school dreams. All they have to do is stay alive….
What more is there to say? Zombies, awesome cover and a description that sounds really fun, this one looks like a must-have for the fall season of 2009!
Another one I’m waiting for is :
The Sky Always Hears Me : and The Hills don’t mind, by Kirstin Cronn-Mills (coming September 1st, 2009)
I borrow the car again from Grandma and drive out to my hill. I scream I am a big fat zero, plus I am swearing off kissing forever, and I hate being a secret sex fiend, about sixteen times each. Then I sit very still and watch a hawk swirl over the fields. I have to get a new life before I go crazy.
Sixteen-year-old Morgan lives in a hick town. Her mum was killed in a car accident when she was two, her dad drinks, and her stepmother is a non-entity. Her boyfriend Derek is boring and she can’t stop staring at her co-worker Rob’s cute butt. Then there’s the kiss she shared with her neighbor Tessa. But when Morgan discovers a devastating secret about the one person she completely trusted, her entire world crashes and she must redefine her life and herself. Compelling and complex, “The Sky Always Hears Me” is a fast-paced narrative with raw humour and a heart-wrenching twist.
I love the cover, the story’s description and the long title; but mostly, it’s Amanda’s review at The Zen Leaf that did it for me!
What about you, readers? What are you waiting for?
The Sky Always Hear Me… caught my attention. I hope they’re both good!
So glad you’re participating!

Both sound really good. I’m very excited for them to come out too.

Oh I’m so glad you liked the Sky review. Kirstin actually contacted me about it and thanked me for helping to promote her book. 🙂
Those both look great. And I would never dance period with a Zombie!! 🙂
The Sky Always Hears Me has caught my eye before too. Here’s my WoW pick
Yay — both of those look outstanding! I’ve seen Zombie around and loved the cover art, too. Plus the title just gets in your head and stays there!
The Sky Always Hears Me sounds great, too — definitely adding that to my wishlist! I wonder where it’s based? Off to read that review, too! 🙂
Thanks for posting I am now looking forward to reading Never Slow Dance with a Zombie.
Both of them look so good!!
But yeah for Supernatural romances 🙂
Thanks to Amanda, I’m also really looking forward to the Kirstin Cronn-Mills book.

I would like to read The Sky Always Hears Me, too. The cover art for Never Slow Dance with a Zombie is great. Almost as great as the title!
