The Artsy Shelf – 5 – Heart it!
This week’s Artsy Shelf presents book covers with the Heart as the main subject. Whether it’s a cookie heart or one formed by the pages of a book, these covers mostly go with simplicity – but are proof that sometimes, less IS more. Once again, many to choose from, but for fun I decided to pick books of which I have recently read reviews. Here’s the selection I made :
So, book lovers, which cover takes your heart away?
I haven’t read any of these books, but I have to say that Twenty Boy Summer and Labor Day are my favorites (and also books I really want to read!) There is a certain melancholy to Labor Day‘s cover, and Twenty Boy Summer looks to me like a mix of different emotions. I also think that Sweethearts’ cover is so simple but so lovely!
I like the 20 Boy Summer cover. I used to think that was tissue paper, but when I found out it was seaglass, tha tchanged my whole perspective on it!
It’s funny you mentioned it! I had the same impression the first time I saw the cover, until I saw a bigger picture of it 🙂 And it does truly change the perspective of it!
I vote for Labor Day! I want to read it too.
I’m partial to the 20 Boy Summer cover..I still have to read this one and review it too!!
“20 Boy Summer” and “A Map of the Known World” are both beautiful!
I love the Labor Day cover the best. It’s the most subtle.
The last two are making me hungry! Love the Glamorous Life of Isabel Bookbinder the best!
20 Boy Summer and Sweethearts are my favorites. I also very much enjoyed the books (and haven’t read any of the others….)
Aw, I love hearts! In fact, anything with a heart on it — especially if it’s pink! — immediately catches my eye. I love the covers for Sweethearts and Labor Day best! I’ve read Zarr’s stunning young adult novel but none of the others. Labor Day is definitely on my wishlist, though!
