I was told there’d be cake… and zombies

Just after writing my review on I was told there’d be cake, by Sloane Crosley, I decided to do a little research on the author (I tend to do things not in the right order, I know). Of course, the first stop was the author’s page, and this was in fact my one and only stop. I discovered there something that immediately caught my eye: in order to make her website more fun, she created 3 great dioramas of her essays, each diorama presenting a miniature version of her texts in two or four scenes.

I just love the idea; I’ve always loved miniatures and doll houses, and I’ve collected dolls for longer than normal standards accept. It’s a different way of creating images for the stories. The mood of the dioramas also really suits the tone of the book. If you’ve read it or are interested by it, I invite you to stop by her website where you’ll also find a nice video of it.

On an other note, I am guetting more and more excited as the day approaches when Pride and Prejudice and Zombies will be available on shelves. The crazy thing is, I have yet to read the original book by Austen. I probably have seen every T.V. or movie version, and I discussed it at lenght with friends who actually read it, but I never did it myself. This is why I bought the original Pride and Prejudice this weekend and plan to read it in March on spring break, so it will still be fresh on my mind when the one with zombies comes out. I do wonder if it will live up to people’s expectations; there’s already some buzz about it on the internet. At least, there’ll probably be a few good laughs.

Plus, I just love the art.
