Giveaway : Somebody to Love by Kristan Higgins

Published on May 17, 2012 by in Uncategorized

Happy Thursday All!

To celebrate the blog’s new home, I have prepared a series of small giveaways for you readers, friends, occasional visitors and first time encounters!  Nothing too glamorous as it comes out of my very small pockets, but I’m hoping to share with you some books by authors I love, as well as thank you for your continuous support!

My first giveaway is for Kristan Higgins’ latest novel. Higgins writes adorable and entertaining novels about romance, but also family, friends, and general life. Her characters have humor and charm and her novels are always, for me, really quick reads. If you are in need for an easily read book that will lighten your mood, if you enjoy “chicklit” novels with a strong hint of romance, Kristan Higgins might be an author you’ll want to try – or try again! :)

About the Book :

After her father loses the family fortune in an insider-trading scheme, single mom Parker Welles is faced with some hard decisions. First order of business: go to Gideon’s Cove, Maine, to sell the only thing she now owns—a decrepit house in need of some serious flipping. When her father’s wingman, James Cahill, asks to go with her, she’s not thrilled…even if he is fairly gorgeous and knows his way around a toolbox.

Having to fend for herself for the first time in her life, Parker signs on as a florist’s assistant and starts to find out who she really is. Maybe James isn’t the glib lawyer she always thought he was. And maybe the house isn’t the only thing that needs a little TLC…

Giveaway : Before I Go to Sleep!

Published on June 24, 2011 by in other

Thanks to  TLC Book Tour, I have one copy of Before I Go to Sleep to give away!

What it’s about :

Every morning when she gets up, Christine’s life starts from scratch. Every night, her severe amnesia erases everything that happened during the day. She also has no clear memory of the past twenty years.

Then she puts her hands on a particular journal, a journal she has been writing and hiding for several weeks, trying to reconstruct her past. That’s when she discovers that the people close to her might not have been telling her everything – and that she can trust no one.

I thought Before I Go to Sleep was a really good read and I am sure it is going to be very popular (after all, there’s already talk of it being made into a movie!) You can read my review here :)

Giveaway : Cut!

Published on June 14, 2011 by in other

Thanks to Big Honcho Media, and to celebrate its 10th anniversary I have two copies of Cut, by Patricia McCormick, to give away!

The Story :

Fifteen-year-old Callie isn’t speaking to anyone, not even her therapist at Sea Pines, the residential treatment facility: where her parents sent her after discovering she cuts herself. As her story unfolds, Callie reluctantly becomes involved with the other guests at Sea Pines, other young woman struggling with problems of their own. Although their issues are different from hers, Callie is drawn into the group, finds her voice, and gradually, confronts the family trauma that triggered her destructive behavior.

I read and enjoyed Cut, which I reviewed here. And let me tell you, it’s a short book that I think is a must read.
