Join Top Ten Tuesday at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week  a new Top Ten list theme is posted and all bloggers are welcome to participate!

Today’s Top Ten is a “rewind”, and we get to pick one of the previous topics, so of course I chose to do my Top Ten of the year now! I always enjoy doing it a bit later in the year, as this leaves me more time to figure out which books were the most memorable.

Because I read 186 books in 2022, figuring out a top 10 was not easy. There are plenty more books I liked and loved, but I think these are the ones that had the biggest impact on me :

Top 10 Books I read in 2022

Books Lovers by Emily Henry : Book Lovers was an easy pick when it came time to pick my favorites of the year. It’s also, by far, my favorite novel by Emily Henry so far! The banter was perfect, I loved the characters and the small town vibe, and it concluded perfectly.

Every Summer After by Carley Fortune : This one took me by surprise! I picked it up randomly at the store before I had heard anything about it, and I completely fell in love with it. At the time of my review I wrote “based on vibes alone, I’d probably give this book a 5 stars, but there were a few things that kept me from completely loving it”. Now that I’ve had more time to think about it, I’ve decided I want to go back and give it 5 stars! After all, even my “perfect books” are flawed.

House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson : I’ve missed vampires in my fiction and this one was a lot of fun! It’s more atmospheric than scary, which I loved, as I did the story itself and the characters. A perfect read for the fall season!

Near the Bone by Christina Henry : It’s hard to describe this book without spoiling anything. It mixes my favorite elements of horror and thriller in brilliant ways, with characters that had me feeling a whole array of emotions. It had been a while since a horror/thriller had me hooked like this!

Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert : I was shocked last year when Dune landed on my favorites of the year, and was even more surprised once I read the second book and realised it would be on my 2022 list. This book blew my mind away, and reinforced my appreciation for the first one. I’m hoping to read at least the third book this year.

Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree : I am loving this trend of cozy fantasy, and I absolutely adored Legends & Lattes. So many cute moments, all the best aspect of fantasy and a bunch of adorable characters too. I am really looking forward to the author’s next book later this year!

The Grace Year by Kim Liggett : I really enjoyed this feminist dystopian/fantasy YA novel. It takes inspiration from classics of the genres and makes them their own. The story was compelling and had some fun twists.

Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson : I love multigerenational stories and family sagas, I love historical fiction and traveling through different parts of the world, I love cake and I love books that explore family dynamics; Black Cake did all of this and more, with a dash of mystery and serendipity. Loved it!

I’m Glad my Mom Died by Jenette McCurdy and Know my Name by Chanel Miller : Two absolutely heartbreaking, important and beautifully written memoirs. They are both must-read so if you haven’t yet, this is your cue to do it!
