Good Monday all!

Hope you all had a great week.

This weekend I finished reading Dune, and what an adventure it was! It’s a 600 pages books that felt twice as long – not that I was bored, but it’s so detailed! I’m still trying to figure out what I thought and felt about it, but overall it was a fun experience. I’m looking forward to seeing the movie.

This week again I reviewed one book, The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James. If you’re looking for a slightly spooky mystery read for this October, I recommend giving it a try.

And now, more books for my shelves! 2 (adult) horror mystery novels, 2 YA horror thrillers on audio and 2 romance novels with a bit of magic. I do intend to read some (most?) of these this month as they seem perfect for October.

The Death of Jane Lawrence by Caitlin Starling My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones

All These Bodies by Kendare Blake (audio) White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson (audio)

Payback’s a Witch by Lana Harper The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling

What did you add to your shelves this week?

  1. The Ex Hex is looking appealing every time I see it. Enjoy.

    • I’ve heard some good things about it! Thank you for stooping by!

  2. OMG you actually read Dune! I caved and saw the movie first, but since it only covers half the book I think I’m still in there for a chance at redemption! Dune is going to be my Christmas Break read, I think, since it is a biiiig one! ‘The Death of Jane Lawrence’ looks great, right up my alley! I hope you have a lovely week ahead 🙂

    • I have to say I felt really accomplished after finishing Dune! I’m really looking forward to seeing the movie. If you enjoyed it then yes, I think you should at least give the book a try! It’s big but once you get used to the world and glossary, it goes by a bit faster.
Have a great week too! 🙂

  3. Congrats on reading Dune. It’s not a genre I’m drawn to but I know several people who loved it. I hope the movie is good!

    • Ha, thank you! I really wasn’t sure I would enjoy it, glad I did though. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I am curious about The Sun Down Motel. Enjoy your week and your books!

    • It’s a good one if you enjoy a bit of ghostly activity along your mystery! Thank you for stopping by 🙂

  5. I can’t wait for Dune (the movie) – there are parts I like and equally dislike about the 1984 movie & the miniseries, so I’m really curious about this adaptation. I hope it’s good!! And while I’m not big on horror, My Heart is a Chainsaw, All These Bodies, and White Smoke all look good!! Happy reading/listening!

    • I actually haven’t seen much of the previous Dune adaptations, so I’m really looking forward to this one. I hope it’s good too! I’m also thinking about reading at least the next book. Thank you for stopping by!

  6. Well done on reading 600 pages of Dune.
Your new books look like great reads for the spooky season!
Thanks for recommending The Sun Down Motel – I added it to my wish list.
Have a great week and Happy New Year!

    • Thank you! I agree, they sound perfect for the season, hopefully I can squeeze in a couple more of them before it ends!
      Thank you for stopping by!

  7. The Ex Hex was so much fun!!

    • Oh that’s good to know! I plan on reading it this week 🙂
