Welcome to Filling the Shelf, or as many of you know it, Mailbox Monday! If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, click away! (but beware, visiting other mailboxes will probably add to your neverending wishlist!)

Hello readers,

It’s been a while! I hope you’re all doing good, and that your summer has been great so far.

Here it definitely feels like summer when we step outside. We weren’t sure what to expect, since it’s our first summer since moving into our new house. But turns out we have a lot more sun than we expected, which means we’ll be able to set up a small garden next year. Our flowers are doing great and our grass too, mostly (it’s hard to keep it growing when the sun is so relentless though).

The past month has been busy, but I’ve managed to do some reading, too. Recent favorites, both on audio, include You Will Know Me by Megan Abbott and Wild by Cheryl Strayed. I’d been wanting to read to Wild for so long, and my library just happened to have it available on audio when I hit a bit of a “listening slump”, if there’s such a thing!

Of course, over the past month, I also accumulated some new books! I feel this is a fairly reasonable haul over 4 weeks. Half are from authors I’ve read and enjoyed before (Ruth Ware, Mary Torjussen, Stephen King & Marisha Pessl), while the others come highly recommended from fellow readers.

The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware – The Girl I Used to Be by Mary Torjussen – The Outsider by Stephen King

The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang – I Stop Somewhere by T.E. Carter

Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl – The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (audio) – Girls Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake

What books did you recently add to your shelves?

  3. Nice mailbox! I can’t decide if I want to read The Outsider or not.

  4. I have The Death of Mrs. Westaway, ready to read…soon!

I see Dark Places in your sidebar…I enjoyed that one. Also Sharp Objects, which I’m watching in a miniseries now.
