R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril X – Done!

rip x

October is over and with that, the R.I.P. challenge is over!

I did well this year. I was aiming for 4 books, and while I read almost nothing of my original selection (what a surprise!), I did manage to read at least 4 – and listen to a few more.

Here is what I read, with links to reviews or quick thoughts for those I have yet to review :

  • The Kind Worth Killing For by Peter Swanson (good suspense, and the audiobook was very engaging)
  • Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff
  • Mind of Winter by Laura Kasischke
  • The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
  • Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica (I actually enjoyed the audio narration more than the story itself, but it was okay. Better than her first novel, which I hadn’t liked much!)
  • Dare Me by Megan Abbott (super intriguing, slow moving, but somewhat left me unsatisfied. I love her writing though!)
  • You by Caroline Kepnes (!!!! I don’t have words for this book or its narration!!!! Not for everyone, but a favorite for me!)
  • House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
  • And not finished but close to : Bird Box by Josh Malerman (It’s really good and surprisingly scary!)

Overall, I had a really good time! I was pleasantly surprised by Mind of Winter, blown away by the audiobook of You, House of Leaves was a unique experience and Bird Box is currently keeping me on my toes. I’m already looking forward to 2016 and its challenge!

Mailbox!

I got a small mailbox this week (these are good too!)

Two books from my wishlist, and Johanna Basford’s new coloring book. It is so pretty!
