Filling the Shelf – 184

Filling the Shelf simply is Mailbox Monday, but with a title that suits my blog! If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, click away! (but beware, visiting other mailboxes will probably add to your neverending wishlist!)

Hello hello readers!

How was your week? It’s been busy here and even though it’s a holiday weekend here, I spent most of it catching up with work. I’ve been so buried in papers and words that whenever I break free, I don’t feel much like reading something thick and complex. I’ve been enjoying graphic novels and audiobooks instead, which isn’t a bad thing!

This week I got You by Caroline Kepnes, and Oh. My. Gosh. The narration for this one is insane. I just can’t stop listening to it. The text is good but the narration really makes the book. I only have 4 hours left and I’m already dreading it being over. And it’s not for everyone, but if reading about a crazy stalker from his point of view is something that intrigues you, give it a try.

I also got Locke & Key, which normally I wouldn’t have wanted right away since I’ve been wanting to read the graphic novel for a long time now; but it’s free on Audible until November 4 so I grabbed it while I could. It’s a full cast narration, which I’ve always been hesitant to try, but the cast on this one was especially intriguing (including Tatiana Maslany and Haley Joel Osment, among others!)

  1. I totally agree with you about the YOU audiobook! The audio makes the story so much creepier. I am scared to read the sequel!

Seeing Tatiana Maslany’s name on the Locke & Key audio made me pick it up too.

Glad audiobooks are working out for you lately! Happy reading and listening 🙂

    • Yes! I’m really scared and excited for the sequel. This was SUCH an experience, I finished it today and I don’t know how I’ll find the words for it.

  2. Two scary books for you! I have You on my Kindle, and started it, but I wasn’t quite in the mood, so I set it aside. I’m sure I will be later. Enjoy!

    Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    • YOU definitely requires a particular kind of mood!

  3. I agree – the audio of You is crazy good. It’s perfect for the fall!

    • It really made the story for me! I’m sure I would still have enjoyed it on paper, but this was an impressive feat of narration.

  4. Both of these look great!

  5. Locke & Key looks so scary.

    ENJOY you reading week.

Giveaways happening on my blog for THE SILENT SISTER and also EVERYTHING SHE FORGOT beginning October 6 until October 13.

  6. Thanks for the head’s up about the free audible book! I grabbed it right away… can’t say no to a free audio book 🙂 Never heard of Locke (is that related to the philosopher?) and Key but I’m in the mood for something creepy.

    • I’m not sure about the Locke part! I’ve always been intrigued by the graphic novel and Joe Hill’s work, so when I saw the free audiobook, I couldn’t resist either!
