robin williams

Today would be the day for my usual Wordless Wednesday post. I had planned on sharing a few pictures of our visit to the zoo, as well as a few thoughts I had already written down. But then Monday happened and  with the news of Robin Williams’ sudden death I, like millions of people, found myself mourning.

An amazing man gone too soon, and so tragically, too. I wanted to write a few words on how inspiring of a man he has been to me, from childhood to adulthood, but the words are missing. I still can’t believe it. The Man asked me if he was my childhood hero, and I answered “Pretty much. Childhood, and today still”.

He’ll be terribly missed; but I will forever be inspired by his talent, his humour and his heart. <3

  1. Yes, it was tragic and I was shocked when I heard the news the other night. While I can’t call him my hero, since I’m surrounded by firefighters and police officers who truly are heroic, I think he was an inspiration and extremely gifted. He starred in some of my favorite movies and I remember seeing a little known film, “Dead Poets Society,” when I was younger and just sobbing at the message. Being a literature nerd, it was so nice to bring life to poetry. Then the Apple commercial came out with his iconic, “What will your verse be,” and I was reminded once again of how completely talented he was. Prayers to his family as they cope with his loss and so glad to have a complete filmography to revisit in remembrance of Mr. Williams.

  2. Lovely tribute, Kay. I gotta say this one hit me hard. I love Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets Society, but surprisingly the first movie of RW’s I thought of was Aladdin.
At least we are all talking about mental health issues now.

  3. Gorgeous quote. Beautiful picture. He will be missed.

  4. Beautiful tribute. Love the quote. He was such a brilliant man, so talented. He will be greatly missed.
