Happy Monday everyone!

I’m sort of late on the posting so let’s get right to the books!

Filling the Shelf – 148

Filling the Shelf simply is Mailbox Monday, but with a title that suits my blog! If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, click away! (but beware, visiting other mailboxes will probably add to your neverending wishlist!)

It would be a huge understatement to say that I went in a bit of a frenzy on Netgalley recently – which is a shame considering I am already way behind on my reviews! But the books are so easy to click and all so good looking and suddenly time seems to become a very malleable concept (suuuure I can read 12 books in a week!) and I can’t help myself, even though at the start of 2014, I promised myself not to do exactly that. Hopefully I can catch up and read, right?

So, yes, these are all recently added galleys to my collection, the exception being I’ll Be There; which I had wanted to read for a while so since I got the galley for Just Call My Name, the timing seemed perfect.

What books did you recently add to your shelves?

YA Contemporary Reading Month (week 2)!

YAcontemp_july2014

Week 2 of my month dedicated to YA contemporary fiction went really well : 4 books and 1 audio, and mostly good, too.

  • Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy (audio)
  • The Secrets of Lily Graves by Sarah Strohmeyer
  • To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before  by Jenny Han
  • Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour (I’m still starry eyed over this one)
  • What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick

So the month is going way better than I expected and I have been making a lot of time for reading, which feels good (books are a pretty awesome pretext to go sit in the sun or drink your coffee outside, watching the sunset!).

But we’re only halfway through the month and I am wondering if maybe I won’t “stray” before the end and read a few different types of books; maybe some YA with a slight twist without going full fantasy? Or maybe some adult contemporary fiction? We’ll see!

Books Becoming Movies!

I so love seeing some of my favorite books become movies, and so I was very excited to see the second trailer for Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl this week. Ben Affleck looks like a pretty great Nick Dunne to me!

I also saw and loved the trailer for Wild. I haven’t read Cheryl Strayed’s memoir (yet!) but the trailer certainly makes me want to! I adore Reese Whiterspoon and she looks great there; the movie is also directed by Jean-Marc Vallée and screenwritten by Nick Hornby, which pretty much means I need to see it.

  1. I hear you! Net Galley is so addictive! I’m trying to stay away, but I might have a little peek later 😀 Happy reading and let me know your secret if you read 12 books this week 🙂

  2. Wow, you have some interesting looking books. I love the covers of Just Call My Name and Jackbaby.

I can’t wait for the Gone Girl movie.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and enjoy your week.

  3. The covers look awesome; hope the stories are as good.

  4. I hope you love them all. NetGalley is irresistible, isn’t it? At the moment I’m down to 5 books on my To Read shelf there but I’m certain that number will grow again.

  5. I’m the same way when it comes to review copies – I always think I can read faster than I can because I forget about all the obligations I have. Oh well! I heard a lot about Jackaby at BEA.

  6. Nice finds on Netgalley! I hear a lot of excitement about Jackaby. Glad contemporary month is going well! I loved Nina LaCour’s book too 🙂

  7. You did go “hog wild” on NetGalley. ENJOY!!

    Drowned looks good.

    Have a great reading week.

  9. Nice week. I try to stay away from netgalley, though, for the same reasons – it’s just too easy and I already have too many books to review!

  10. I love the sound of Jackaby! I’ve added that book to my ever increasing wishlist. I’ve only just started taking part in Mailbox Monday but it’s good to see what other reading delights people are receiving. I only recently started using NetGalley but as already mentioned, it is quite addictive. I have 4 books to read on my shelf from them! Enjoy your books when you get to them.

  11. I signed up for netgalley but never went farther than that because so many of you scare me with how many books you request! It looks like you’ve got lots of great reading ahead!
