Happy Sunday all!

Is it as sunny on your slice of the planet as it is on mine? It seems summer has finally arrived for good – and good thing too, because our little flowers need a bit of sunshine to thrive! We also we visited my family and friends back into our hometown and had the best ice cream ever (maple ice cream dipped in caramel chocolate… yum!)

Things have been excited on the reading front : lots of reading, lots of new books, lots of new discoveries!

Filling the Shelf – 147

Filling the Shelf simply is Mailbox Monday, but with a title that suits my blog! If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, click away! (but beware, visiting other mailboxes will probably add to your neverending wishlist!)

It’s been a great mailbox week and with a nice variety of formats! In order : 2 new books, 2 new audiobooks, and 2 new egalleys. I’d be hard pressed to pick the one I’m most excited about but I have to say, discovering the Lizzie Bennett book as an audiobook made me pretty happy!

What books did you recently add to your shelves?

YA Contemporary Reading Month!

YAcontemp_july2014You guys know I have mentioned a few times before how I would dedicate July to reading YA contemporary fiction, and so here we are!

I published my “launch post” this week with a simple preselection of books that recently got home. The thing is, I have a lot more that I have kept untouched through the year, thinking “Oh, this will be perfect for my contemporary month!” – and now it feels like I would need more than one! Haha!

I’ve already made it through three books :

  • We Were Liars by E. Lockhart (see my not-a-review-review)
  • Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas (great thriller, sort of a Gone Girl for YA)
  • The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith (greatly not overdone romance)

I’m hoping the month is all smooth sailing from here and that I’ll love everything I read. Not too unrealistic, right? Right??

Books Becoming Movies!

I have made no secret of my enjoyment of Before I Go to Sleep, a psychological thriller I have now pushed onto any reader I know (most of the time with great success!)

(haven’t you read it? you should read it)

It’s exciting to see it becoming a movie, and while I didn’t imagine Nicole Kidman in the main role, I absolutely adore the idea of Colin Firth playing her husband! I’m really looking forward to seeing it.

And while I never made it past the first book it is exciting to see The Maze Runner coming soon on the big screen. I think for me it will be a better medium to enjoy this specific story.
