harry potter and the chamber of secretsHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling
Pages : 256
Genre :  YA and Children, Magic!
Series : Harry Potter, book 2
My Rating : 4/5

About the Book  :

Harry can’t wait for his holidays with the dire Dursleys to end. But a small, self-punishing house-elf warns Harry of mortal danger awaiting him at Hogwarts School. Returning to the castle nevertheless, Harry hears a rumour about a chamber of secrets, holding unknown horrors to magicians of Muggle parentage. Now someone is casting spells that turn people to stone, and a terrible warning is found painted on the wall. The chief suspect – who’s always in the wrong place – is Harry. But something much darker has yet to be unleashed.

My Thoughts :

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second book in the series and was the book scheduled for the month of February for the Harry Potter reread. I finished it a few days late, which isn’t too bad, but most importantly, I was surprised by how much fun I had reading it.

As far as I could remember, Chamber of Secrets had always been my least favorite of the series. And I wouldn’t be surprised if it holds true once I am done rereading them all. But I was so focused on how much less I liked it than other books in the series, that I had forgotten all the things I actually enjoyed in it!

Things I loved in Chamber of Secrets :

  • That crazy car ride
  • Dobby!
  • Annoying but adorable Colin Creevey
  • Insufferable but entertaining Gilderoy Lockhart
  • Dobby free!

That’s the thing with Harry Potter; even at its lowest, it still feels magical and awesome.

And the next book – Prisoner of Azkaban –  being a favorite, I already know I am in for a treat!

Which one if your favorite in the series?

Series Reading Order :

  1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
  2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  6. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

  1. Revisiting these books sounds like lots of fun to me!

  2. I already read this one and that part of the book series made a lot of impression to me. I suddenly remembered my late night sleep when I read this.
For me, my personal favorite in the book of Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets are:
    1. Fawkes – The Phoenix
    2. Dobby (of course)
    3. Mourning Myrtle/Martle

  3. I fell in love wuth Dobby here too. I was lukewarn about the first and second of the series and thought that the third is where Rowling hit her stride.
