Seasons of Reading : the High Summer Read-a-Thon

I had big plans for this week: I wanted to spend a lot of it reading, trying to get that TBR pile a little shorter (especially since I have been getting fewer new books lately, it feels like the perfect occasion to try making it smaller!)

And on Monday morning, I discovered the High Summer Read-a-Thon! It’s a week long read-a-thon; doesn’t it sound perfect? There are few rules, and anyone is welcome to join, even if it is only for a couple days. Let’s just read together and have fun!

I’m not planning a very strict reading list for the week, but I know it will be mostly short and fun YA. Or at least I think so. I’d like to complete at least 5 books, but we’ll see how that goes.

So I made some sort of list, and I’d like to read one book per category (with linking to Goodreads) :

Books already started :

Recently added to the TBR pile :

  • The Forsaken by Lisa M. Stasse
  • Team Human by Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan
  • Office Girl by Joe Meno  (read on 21/07)

Sequels

Summer Romance :

E-ARCs :

Audio :

Knowing that I am a moody reader, there is of course a high possibility I’ll be rebelling against myself and reading nothing on this list. What can I say, I can’t trust my own judgement!

Any suggestion on which book I should read first, or which one I should be adding to this list? And if you are joining the fun, let me know! I’ll b updating on twitter via #HSreadathon, and I’ll try ticking things off the list the week goes on!

  1. If you like Neil Gaiman then Stardust is a pretty awesome novel.

  2. I haven’t read any of those books so I can’t help you out. Good luck!

  3. Good Luck with this one!

  4. Stardust! I love that book! I think you should listen to it first. Happy reading!

    • Haha, I am about half-way through! I’m reading it on audio, and not only is the story really good so far, I am loving Neil Gaiman’s narration. Perfect tone, perfect voice, I’m loving it!

  5. I think that you should finish stardust first. It is such a good book and is very different from the movie version.

    • It really is! I’m only halfway through and I already feel it is darker than the movie, which had more of a super-happy-colorful-fairy-tale feel to it. I’m really excited to discover more of the difference as I finish it. Thanks for your input! 🙂
