Sunday Salon : So this is (temporarily) goodbye!

The Sunday Salon.comHello again everyone!

For many of you, the turkey has come and gone, and some of you even took some time to read this weekend. What a great idea! I would have loved to join – although I did read a lot this week, considering the craziness that is school. With all the stress and insomnia that the end of the semester brings, I consider reading like a necessity of the mind: after some time, all those art philosophers’ big words don’t fit into my brain!

Which brings me to this post title : So this is (temporarily) goodbye!

This is my last Sunday Salon until the end of December. There will also be a lot less posting in general. I know I’ll miss it, but I don’t want to repeat what happened in my mid-terms (which was : me posting everyday, but having no time to visit other bloggers). So in the next weeks, I’ll use my procrastination seconds to go around the blogs a little. So, I guess this is kind of the apologetic post of “sorry I wasn’t there recently!”, except that I’m writing it in advance – and I promise not to apologize again! πŸ˜‰

So, back to the books. Like I said, Stress+Insomnia=Reading time, and I can’t read essays for university since those bring back the stress and then the insomnia. (By the way, if you have any tips for those issues, I’ll take them!)Β The irony is that I read a lot this week, but I read a lot of not-so-good things. Not bad, just, blah.

Books Read this Week :

  • The Guinea Pig Daries, by A.J. Jacobs (this was good : review)
  • Soulless, by Gail Carriger (didn’t like – almost did not finish)
  • Over the Holidays, by Sandra Harper (was okay-good)
  • In a Perfect World, by Laura Kasischke (was okayish-with-some-issues)

Now it’s back to work – see you all around! πŸ˜€

  1. Good luck with all your finals! I know how everything can pile up on you around then, so I think you’re making the right choice.

  2. I wish I had some great sleep tips, but I don’t. Take care of yourself and good luck with your finals.

  3. Good luck with your exams! The best stress/insomnia tip I have is to hunt around the web for relaxation MP3s, and then try to do one every night before bed, even if it’s just five minutes of guided deep breathing. It gets easier with practice, like anything else, although it’s still something I struggle with too.

  4. Good luck on mid-terms!

  5. I admire all you guys who have jobs and school and everything else to deal with. Blogging is so easy for me because I have nothing else to do…

  6. Best of luck with school, Kay.

I keep seeing such bad reviews for Soulless. But I love the cover πŸ™

  7. Good luck and don’t stress out! Treat yourself to a massage now and then and do some feel good things. I’m positive you’ll do great πŸ™‚

  8. Good luck with finals. Finals and midterms are always the worst time of the semester for doing things you want to do. I’ve been having a lot of insomnia lately also so I definitely understand you using it to read. Have you tried lavender? You know, like lavender extract? It only works for about a week but it’s a great week. Have you tried taking anything for the insomnia? Every now and then I get so desperate for sleep that I do. Let us know what happens.

  9. Take Care Kay and good luck with all of the finals!! I remember those days and they can be very stressful!!! We’ll see you in a month πŸ™‚

  10. Lots of people have been missing from their blogs lately – myself included. If you need time apart, don’t worry. Do it and we’ll all be here to welcome you back when you return. πŸ˜€ Get yourself sorted first.

By the way, stress and insomnia – I’m pretty sure it’s mandatory to have those in uni. For the three years I was there I never got rid of either. :S

  11. I almost didn’t finish Soulless, either. About 1/2 way through I had one of those I-don’t-want-to-read-this-anymore moments and seriously considered tossing it.

As for insomnia, warm milk and honey usually puts me out like a light. If that doesn’t work, I go for the Nyquil.

  12. Good luck with your finals, Kaye. It’s been awhile since I was in school, but I remember how stressful school could be–keeping up with the reading, the tests and the papers. I hope you will be able to relax soon and get some much needed sleep.

  13. I wish I had advices for you dear Kay! But sadly I don’t!

Your post made me think.. Oh, so this is what it’s like when I get to college and with my stressful course, my situation would be worse. Nevertheless, spend some time with yourself. Treat your self to something good.

Good luck with your finals! I’ll really miss your posts since I enjoy reading them a lot.

  14. I’ll miss you. Merry Christmas! Good luck!

  15. PS love the header πŸ˜€

  16. This is totally understandable. I mean, I took quite a break for a while there and I didn’t even have a great excuse like mid-terms and finals. We shall be here when you get back! And good luck!

  17. I remember the stress of midterms well. Hope all goes swimmingly πŸ™‚
